Visitors are welcome to Assynt. We have lots to see and do, but please follow a few simple rules:
1. RUBBISH
Keep our landscape litter-free by binning it. It should go without saying, but if there’s not a bin nearby, do the right thing by taking it with you. Even better – leave the place in a better state than you found it if you can.
2. DRIVING
When driving our single-track roads, remember that the car behind you might be the local doctor or firefighter on their way to a call. ALWAYS pull over and let them pass. It's the law. Watch out for sheep and lambs on the road, and never park in passing places!
4. CAMPING
We have lots of places to stay, both formal sites and places you are welcome to stay the night in return for a small donation. Please don't park in laybys or passing places overnight, NEVER dump grey waste or, worse, black waste in the landscape, or use Assynt as a toilet. If you are asked for a donation, please leave one. This ensures we can keep the sites open for future visitors.
5.FIRES
Don't light fires! Even in wet weather, the underlying ground can be bone dry and a stray flame can head off up the hill in an instant. Don't use disposable barbecues on grassland where they will burn the land. Never cut down trees to start a fire. Green wood will not burn and you will only damage the woodland.
6. DOGS
Please make sure your dogs are under control at all times. Never allow them to chase livestock, and please clean up after them
7. ENJOY!
Get out and enjoy this stunning landscape. We hope you have a wonderful time here and take home lots of happy memories!
